Typhoon Philippines: An Urgent Call to Be the Hands and Feet of Jesus

The devastating typhoon in the Philippines has left families without homes, food, or clean water. Communities in Masbate City were hit the hardest, with widespread destruction and countless families displaced.

In this moment of crisis, Mosaic International is stepping in alongside our partners to bring relief. But we cannot do it alone, this is the time for the Mosaic family to rise up as the hands and feet of Jesus.

The Sherman Family: Safe, but Ready to Serve

Many in our community have been concerned about the Sherman family (The Mosaic International missionary family and founders) serving in the Philippines. We are grateful to share that they are safe (their home is marked with the red circle on the map).

Even though they experienced the storm, their focus is on helping others. This week, they are preparing to buy supplies, meet with pastors, and organize a game plan to deliver relief where it is needed most.

Mark shared this update:

“We’ll buy supplies this week and are meeting with pastors on Wednesday to figure out a game plan and combine resources, which is why we need to raise funds right away. The blue circle is the Donsol church and student center, and the green circle is Masbate City, where we’d like to go to help. We’re also linking with other pastors to reach more communities in need.”

Why Masbate City Needs Us Now

While the Sherman family is safe, Masbate City (green circle) has been devastated. Families there are facing hunger, lack of clean water, and unsafe living conditions.

With your help, Mosaic International and our partners can provide:

  • Emergency relief packs of rice, canned goods, clean water, and hygiene kits.

  • Temporary shelter and clothing for displaced families.

  • Medical support and trauma care through local churches.

  • Long-term hope by walking with communities through recovery.

2. Pray Without Ceasing

Pray for the families in Masbate City, for the Sherman family, and for pastors on the ground coordinating the response.

3. Share the Story

Help spread the word. Share this blog post on social media, forward it to friends, and let others know how they can stand with the Philippines.

Our Goal

Our partners need at least $5,000 for immediate relief. Mosaic has committed to raising $2,500 this week to ensure supplies can be purchased and distributed as quickly as possible.

Typhoon Philippines: Responding Together

The crisis of typhoon relief in the Philippines is not just a headline, it’s a call to action. Together as the Mosaic family, we have the opportunity to show Christ’s love in real and tangible ways.

This is what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus: stepping into brokenness, bringing food to the hungry, water to the thirsty, and hope to the weary.
