BELIZE

Belize is a small yet culturally diverse nation on the eastern coast of Central America, bordering Mexico and Guatemala. Renowned for Mayan ruins, beautiful rainforests, and Carribbean Sea coastlines, Belize is also known for its high violent crime rate (largely related to drug trafficking), a frail education system, inequality and high poverty rate. The local church, when empowered and mobilized into surrounding neighborhoods, can play a huge role in reversing the cycle!

KEY LEADERSHIP
In spite of the challenges Belize has overcome and currently facing, there are strong leaders who have been instrumental in the community and the story God is telling. Leaders who have weathered storms, overcome hurdles, and come out stronger than ever because of their unwavering faith and vision. Pastors Michael & Patricia Evans have been such pillars in the community of Dangriga.

Pastors Michael and Patricia Evans have been serving the Lord in the Southern town of Dangriga, Belize since 1980. In 1984, they also began a school that now serves 180-200 children, from elementary through 8th grade. They have a desire to provide free after-school tutoring services for underprivileged children as an avenue to spread the Word of God. Michael and Patricia hope for a revival in Dangriga and the country as people discover a deep hunger and thirst for God. They have been married for 45 years and have 5 children with 14 grandchildren. In their free time, Michael enjoys basketball and Patricia has begun vegetable gardening.

Stacee Strickland moved to Dangriga, Belize in 2021 as Mosaic’s Field Director, partnering with Pastor Michael and Patricia Evans at their church. She is an avid athlete whose ministry includes working with young adults and providing athletic programs as outreaches into the community. Being raised with the values of generosity and missions, she looks to sports ministry as a way to spread the gospel to those around her. Since 2005, she has traveled the world hosting sports camps with local churches. In her free time, she can generally be found outside with her dog Coach, watching baseball, or playing volleyball with her neighbors.
KEY INITIATIVES
Pastor Evans' church, Faith Family Worship Center (FFWC) has been a staple in the community for 50 years and is located in Dangriga - a city widely regarded as "The Cultural Capital of Belize". What a strategic place to be the hands and feet of Jesus!

FFWC exists to transform, equip, and mobilize kingdom-minded leaders for Jesus Christ to bring the good news, heal the broken-hearted, proclaim freedom for the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind.
FFWC has several initiatives to reach the community, the most prominent being an elementary school that serves 180-200 children. We would love to play a role in helping this school grow in influence and in numbers in order to make a holistic impact in the lives of the children and their families.
Stacee partners with FFWC in the ongoing work they are already doing, while also using her God-given skills in athletics to create a vibrant sports ministry. Through neighborhood leagues and tournaments, hikes with young adults, and summer Sports Camps, she is able to connect the church with the community in fun and empowering ways. People who might not ever step foot in a church now have opportunities to step on the field, step into relationship with people who love them, and be given an invitation to cross the line of faith.
We are thrilled to see what God does and invite you to be part of the movement by joining Stacee’s support team today!
