7 Scriptures Thanking God for Answered Prayers (and What They Teach Us About Faith)

We pray and ... we pray... and God listens! When our prayers are a part of God's plan, then they are answered...in His perfect timing! With that said... do we remember to thank Him?

Do you know how powerful it is to give thanks to Him? Whether you're standing in awe of a miracle or reflecting on the peace that came after a season of struggle, the Bible gives us beautiful language to express our gratitude to our Heavenly Father.

At Mosaic International, we’ve seen firsthand how Jesus moves in powerful ways, from healing and provision in the most remote villages to the quiet transformation of hearts amid poverty and pain. Through it all, we are reminded repeatedly: with God, nothing is impossible.

7 Scriptures Thanking God for Answered Prayers

Here are 7 scriptures thanking God for answered prayers, each one a testament to the faithfulness of Jesus Christ and an encouragement to keep seeking Him in all things.

"I will give you thanks, for you answered me; you have become my salvation."

Psalm 118 is a song of celebration and victory. When the psalmist writes, “you answered me,” he’s acknowledging that God not only hears but responds.

This verse reminds us to pause and thank the Lord Jesus for being present in our lives, as our Savior who engages, heals, and rescues.

Personal reflection: When have you cried out and seen God show up? Write it down. Let thanksgiving become your testimony.

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have what we asked of him."

These verses are a powerful reminder that answered prayer isn’t about our prayer, but about alignment with the will of God. God delights in our dependence and confidence in Him. He hears. He responds. Always.

Reflection: Are there prayers you've seen God answer in ways you didn't expect? How did His answer shape your heart?

"But God has surely listened and has heard my prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!"

We serve a God who listens. Even when our faith feels fragile, even when we fall short, He leans in. These verses remind us that His love is steadfast and He does not turn His face away. What grace!

Application: If you’re in a season of doubt, read this over your heart. He hears you.

"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

This verse stretches our faith. To believe before we see is the essence of trusting God. When we thank Him in advance, we are declaring that He is already at work, even when the answer hasn’t come yet.

Encouragement: This is the kind of faith that builds churches in poverty-stricken areas, walks with pastors in Tanzania, and holds hands with children in the Philippines. Thank Him now, even before the breakthrough.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."

Anxiety often tries to drown out our faith. But Paul reminds us to wrap our prayers with thanksgiving. Why? Because gratitude shifts our focus from the problem to the Problem-Solver.

Practice: Try ending each prayer with at least one thank you. It may be small, but it can change everything.

"And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven... The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective."

This passage reminds us that God is both our Healer and our Forgiver. When we sin and heal, when we extend and receive forgiveness, it all begins with prayer. Whether you’ve seen healing unfold firsthand or are praying for it today, this verse invites us to lean into faith and trust in the Lord’s power.

Reminder: Your prayers matter. Your faith has power. And God loves to move through both.

"And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it."

Jesus gives us His name to pray in. This isn’t a magic phrase; it’s a relationship. A trust. An authority rooted in His resurrection power. And when He answers, it brings glory to the Father.

Call to Action: Let your answered prayers become praise reports that point others to Jesus. Tell your story. Testify.
